Yesterday the National Park Service turned 100 years old! We learned that President Roosevelt, saddened by the death of his mother and wife on the same day from illness, took comfort in nature. It was there that he decided to create the National Parks, to preserve this land for future generations! Thanking God that he did! The closest National Park to us is the National Canaveral Seashore. We were not up to making the trip yesterday, so we visited the Ocala National Forest (which is not part of the National Park System, fun fact). But we enjoyed nature and the beauty around us. I highly recommend it!
Also those with fourth graders should note that they get free National Park passes for the year that will allow the whole family in when they are with you! Check out more here! http://www.nationalparks.org/ook/every-kid-in-a-park
